Moving tip of the day:
When you’re getting ready for a move, you may hire movers to come in and pack your belongings. If you decide you want them to unpack your things as well, this is better known as a “Turn key service” move. You may also decide to do the packing yourself. This will definitely save you some money in the end but you want to make sure you pack like a pro. If you decide to pack your items, instead of hiring a professional mover, read the tips below:
1. Gather all your supplies ( boxes, tape, labels, bubble wrap, peanuts, shrink wrap)
2. Choose the right size boxes
When moving heavier items, such as books, use small boxes. Use bigger boxes for light items, such as pillows, sheets, and stuffed animals. Waredorbe boxes are for hanging clothes in closets so nothing gets damaged or wrinkled. There are special boxes for fragile things such as paintings, lamps and sculptures.
3. No empty space
Use towels and clothing to fill in the empty spaces in the boxes. This will keep items from breaking and moving around.
Hint: Don’t pack items from different rooms in the same box. This will make unpacking much easier.
4. Label your boxes This can make your unpacking process go much more smoothly and keep you organized!
